All our whistles are tuneable, allowing the instruments to be flattened or sharpened if required. Gently ease the body out of the tuning section to lengthen the body and flatten the sound, or ease it into the tuning section to shorten the body and sharpen the sound.

"EXCALIBUR Silver" range of Whistles

"Excalibur Silver" whistles are constructed with a brushed aluminium body and mouthpiece and a black ertacetyl tuning barrel. These eye-catching whistles have a clear, bright and sweet tone (see picture below).

 

The "Excalibur Silver" Low D is a serious piece of kit. "EXCALIBUR Silver" and "EXCALIBUR Gold" Soprano D7 Whistles

We are proud to be one of the few whistle-makers able to offer Soprano D7 whistles. These, as their name suggests, are Soprano D whistles with a seventh hole. This is offset slightly to facilitate playing using the little finger of the bottom hand and gives the C natural below bottom D, enabling tunes in "modal" keys to be played, which considerably extends the possible repertoire of the player. The tune below is in the key of D Mixolydian and, without the bottom C natural, could only be played using the upper registers, which loses the lovely low "dropping" effect of the last notes:

Soprano D7 whistles are available in both the "Excalibur Silver" and the "Excalibur Gold" ranges, and in both wide- and narrow-bores.

Merlin Music Whistle Roll

The compact and safe way to store your whistles, and to carry them with you wherever you go, our whistle rolls take five Merlin whistles from Tenor G (approx 40cm long) through A, Bb, Soprano C and Soprano D. We hope you’ll fill them with Merlin whistles, but they’ll fit other popular makes too, of course.

Made from fine, soft, red felt fabric, each whistle roll is hand-stitched on our trusty heirloom treadle sewing machine. (Why go high-tech, when low-tech does the job perfectly?)

A top flap folds down to protect your whistles and to ensure they can’t slide out, then the whole thing rolls up from the “high whistle” end and along the side flap, which acts as a wrap-round cover. A black grosgrain ribbon ties it all up securely.
